The first generation of Lexus GX SUVs is essentially a third-generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado with a 120 body, premium trim, a single 4.7-liter V8 engine, and a 5-speed automatic transmission. The car was manufactured at a plant in Takahara, Japan, from where it was shipped to the North American market. In the Lexus model range, this SUV, which can comfortably seat up to eight passengers, occupies an intermediate position between the LX470 and RX350. Equipped with a four-wheel drive transmission with a Torsen center differential, the Lexus GX470 is well prepared for off-road driving, but its chassis is tuned not only for overcoming serious obstacles, but also for comfortable everyday driving.
