In the fourth generation, the Prius is the brand’s first global model built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. This provides a 60% increase in torsional body rigidity, along with a lower center of gravity due to the low-slung powertrain. The hybrid battery pack is located beneath the rear seat rather than under the cargo floor.
