The third-generation Lexus GS sedan became an independent model line, no longer sharing its platform with the Toyota Aristo as its two predecessors did. Corporate reorganization established Lexus as a fully standalone premium brand in design and sales. The new Lexus GS introduced the brand's signature L-finesse design language—characterized by smooth, flowing, dynamic, and powerful proportions—which defined the appearance of subsequent Lexus models. The sedan also features an aerodynamically optimized fastback profile. The quad-headlight front-end styling and distinctive rear door kink pay homage to the previous generation.
