The second-generation Renault Megane was produced from 2002 to 2009 in hatchback, sedan, and station wagon body styles. The sedan was assembled in Turkey, while all other body styles were manufactured in France. In certain markets, the Megane II station wagon was sold under the name Megane Grandtour. This guide details the locations, access procedures, photos, and wiring diagrams for the fuse and relay boxes in the Megane II (chassis codes BM, CM, KM, LM, EM; C platform), including specific identification of the cigarette lighter fuse.
The design of the fuse boxes and the component layout may vary depending on the model year and equipment level. Always verify against the diagram printed on the inside of the protective fuse box cover.
Under the hood
The engine compartment of the Renault Megane II contains three fuse boxes.
Battery fuses
This fuse block is mounted directly on the positive terminal of the battery.
Assignment:
- 30 A – Cabin Electronic Control Unit (UCH/BCM)
- 350 A (gasoline models) / 400 A (diesel models) – Alternator & Engine Compartment Switching Unit (UPC)
- 30 A – Engine Compartment Switching Unit (UPC)
Switching box
Located on the left side of the engine compartment, protected by a cover.
Depending on the version, removing the cover will either provide direct access to replace fuses or reveal a secondary inner housing that requires further disassembly to access the unit.
Accessing the under-hood fuse box
First, remove the battery and unbolt its tray fasteners to gain access to the Engine Control Unit (ECU).
Unbolt the ECU bracket and move it aside. Disconnect the air duct near the radiator and lift the ECU holder.
Unfasten the retaining bolt on the fuse block itself. Slide the unit out, ensuring you disconnect the main wiring harness connectors.
