The fourth-generation Toyota 4Runner SUV (chassis code N210; J120 platform) was introduced for the 2003 model year in late 2002. Built on the Land Cruiser Prado (J120) platform, the vehicle featured updated exterior styling while retaining signature design heritage elements, rugged body-on-frame (ladder frame) construction, and a solid rear axle with coil springs. Larger than its predecessor, the fourth-generation 4Runner featured a wheelbase extended by 114 mm (2,789 mm), a more spacious cabin, enhanced driving dynamics, and updated powertrains.
