The third-generation Toyota Yaris was introduced in the United States as a 2012 model. Compared to the outgoing hatchback, the redesign features a more mature appearance and sportier stance with a sharply defined front profile, a slightly lower roofline, and an extended, wider wheelbase that improves road handling while expanding cabin space. As before, the hatchback is available in three- and five-door configurations. This generation Yaris incorporates a rigid body structure with increased high-strength steel content, an upgraded suite of safety features, and expanded standard equipment. US-spec models are powered exclusively by a 1.5-liter engine producing 106 hp.
