The second generation of the S40 sedan made its debut in Europe at the end of 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The model is built on the P1 platform, which is nothing more than the global C1 platform developed by the European center Ford (on which the Focus II and Mazda3 were created in 2003).
